How to Compare Vehicle Trims Before Export

Scope: a buyer-side method for comparing manufacturer configurations before an export quotation. It does not prove live production, stock, homologation or destination registration.

1. Freeze the model identity before comparing equipment

Record the brand, model, model year and exact manufacturer trim in the language used by the manufacturer. Keep the official Chinese trim beside any English working translation. A shared model name, badge or body shape is not evidence that two trims use the same engine, motor, battery, drive layout or driver-assistance hardware.

Start from a reviewed programme such as Geely new vehicles and a concrete model page such as Geely Xingyue L. The manufacturer’s current Xingyue L page lists multiple petrol and hybrid configurations in one comparison table and warns that market vehicles and specifications can change; the final delivered product remains the controlling reference.

2. Build one trim comparison sheet

Use one row for each verifiable field and one column for each candidate trim. Keep blank cells blank until a primary source confirms them.

• model year and complete official trim name;
• energy type and powertrain architecture;
• engine displacement, motor output, system output and torque where published;
• transmission and driven wheels;
• length, width, height, wheelbase and seats;
• battery chemistry, capacity and stated test-cycle range where applicable;
• wheels, tyres, exterior lighting and charging hardware;
• airbags, braking and driver-assistance equipment;
• screens, connectivity, seats, climate control and comfort equipment;
• standard, optional and unavailable items, preserving the manufacturer’s symbols.

3. Do not mix test cycles or power figures

Keep CLTC, WLTC and other range or fuel-consumption cycles labelled exactly as published. Do not compare a motor’s peak output with a hybrid system’s combined output as if they were the same measure. If the manufacturer does not publish a combined figure, leave it unclaimed.

4. Add a destination acceptance gate

A configuration comparison is incomplete until the importer checks the destination’s steering, emissions, safety, charging, conformity, age and registration requirements. Equipment availability does not establish admissibility. For battery-electric passenger vehicles, the China-side export route also needs current licensing review: MOFCOM states that export-licence administration has applied to the specified pure-electric passenger-vehicle category since 1 January 2026.

5. Freeze the commercial basis with the trim

The quotation should repeat the exact trim, quantity, colour assumptions, included equipment and validity period. State the full Incoterms® rule and named port, place or point. ICC guidance recommends writing the chosen rule together with the named location and “Incoterms® 2020”; “FOB” or “CIF” alone is not a complete delivery reference.

Continue with the Vehicle Sourcing workflow, then send the comparison sheet through the model-specific RFQ. Zhenwan should reconfirm the manufacturer configuration, current availability and destination inputs before payment.

Frequently asked questions

Can two trims with the same model year use different powertrains?

Yes. Compare the exact official trim columns rather than assuming that the model name determines the engine, motor, transmission or drive layout.

Should an English trim name be called official?

Only when the manufacturer publishes that English name. Otherwise keep it as a working translation and retain the official Chinese trim below it.

Does a manufacturer configuration table prove export availability?

No. It is a product reference. Production, current supply, export licensing and destination suitability must be reconfirmed for the live order.
